Oma Else in Mainz

Very cozy, delicious food (I love the breakfast) and friendly staff. Grandma Else is very popular with students. It is definitely worth having a piece of cake there after a stroll through the old town!

Almost impossible to reach by phone .....

Always really tasty at Grandma Else and the portions are appropriate. The selection is not huge, but there is usually something for every taste.

Top service, nice autumn menu, good portion size and of course very tasty. Just like with grandma! I would love to come back!

We were very excited! Everything tasted great, the service was very friendly and quick and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Unfortunately we don't come from Mainz, otherwise we would probably be there more often. Can only be recommended!

Food is delicious, employees are concerned.

We went there for breakfast and it really is enough per person. The prices for a breakfast set are around 12€ which is a bit pricy but you will be full after the portion and we were offered a substitute after we wanted to change one item of the breakfast set, which is awesome. All in all a good Café for a longer breakfast session.

Nice service and the food was fine. I just had to season my spaetzle a little more with salt and pepper for my taste. There are also a couple of vegetarian options.

After the cinema to see Grandma Else. That's what makes the evening perfect. Nice, brisk conditions, delicious and, above all, inexpensive food in portions that even an adolescent will get full of, you get here in a nice atmosphere, very centrally located in the old town of Mainz. We had a really big and very tasty salad and the Käsespätzle and will definitely be back when we're back in town.

Regional. Seasonal. Phenomenal. Great food, great atmosphere and the service is personal. No machines work here, just people. You can tell. Everyone contributes a little with their own character to the overall image of Grandma Else. And that is exactly what defines them. Cozy and charismatic. Quote "The most Hamburg-style shop that I have found outside of Hamburg so far". There are 5 stars for that!

Was there recently with a friend to enjoy the evening comfortably. The staff was very warm and I felt completely at ease. The vibe and the food was also very good. Portions were very large and very full. I would love to come back!

Here you can have a wonderful morning chat with your girlfriend! We had breakfast Grandma Else and Grandpa Hans, once sausage and once more cheese. Everything was fresh and tasty. The bread from the Vettel bakery around the corner was a poem! Service friendly and attentive. After 3 hours we were happy to have a chair with a backrest - there are also tables with high stools! It's also nice to sit outside - in the middle of the old town of Mainz, but at the moment the wasps are very annoying.

Great restaurant, good kitchen and nice staff. Had a bite to eat there in the evening, was very nicely prepared - something for the eye - and it was delicious too! What more do you want? I will go there more often.

Good home-style food with very large portions. Delicious dishes and friendly service. Waiting time around noon is quite long.

Very brisk and friendly service. I think that all the staff there did a great job, I can highly recommend this restaurant! I think my colleague and I have ordered the whole menu up and down a long time ago. The meal was brought very promptly. We find the restaurant to be irrelevant for all events, whether with a husband, friends or clan; ).

An excellent combined menu, something for everyone to appreciate. Service was fabulous and absolutely treasured the food, will be coming back. I came here with my sister and we both thought the food was exceptional and the personnel were superb. The atmosphere here is generally welcoming so you never have to wait long to be offered. Wonderful affordability And great food too! Hardly ever unfulfilled with the meals And for the level of quality the costs are fantastic as well.

Frequently overhyped

I still rave about the oven (sweet) potato. A dream! Really tasty! Also the chicken with cereal coat and the filled pancakes convinced us. Keep it up! ??

I am visiting from America and had breakfast at this lovely place. The food was perfect and the staff was friendly. The staff asked if I needed help with the menu which was nice. The outdoor seating is lovely and you feel like you’re a part of the city.

I loved the place. Went to the place for a team dinner. The place is cozy and warm with very helpful people around. People here can speak fluently in English and thats a great help. The food tastes amazing no matter what you order!

Perfect food, but the worst services I've ever met in Mainz. Like 30 minutes before the order and 60 minutes before the breakfast. It was so slow, that breakfast turned into the dinner! And the order was a bit wrong, but we just took it as is, to awoid another hour of waiting. But very very tasty. Maybe, it was just a bad day for the waitress.

The service here is great and the food is good and affordable. For brunch their pancakes are great and the coffee is strong. For dinner I’d recommend the cornflake chicken breast with the mango sauce.

Friendly service with a good, creative menu. Even the common sides we had (potato salad and bread) were a solid cut above what you expect in a tradition German kitchen. I found the lemonade to be delicious, my partner was very impressed with the Riesling.

This place has good food, a relaxed atmosphere and an extensive menu for a good price. One of the best breakfast options in Mainz.
